ORLANDO (April 9, 2018) – From the Rocky Mountains to Lakeland, Florida, they came, they baked and they conquered America’s sweetest challenge – to be named the best pie in nation!
The 24th Annual APC National Pie Championships were held April 6 and 7 in Orlando at the Rosen Centre Hotel.  Here, amateur, professional and commercial bakers entered their most delicious pies among an array of flavor categories for bragging rights to be named the nation’s best.  From apple and pumpkin to an open category and savory pot pies, hundreds of pie were sampled by more than 200 judges throughout the two-day competition.

New buildings unlock opportunity at South Worcester Industrial Park

WORCESTER – Take about 11 acres of land, buy much of the property, tear down decrepit buildings, give new construction a tax break and then resell available parcels to developers.

That’s the recipe the city of Worcester followed with the South Worcester Industrial Park over close to two decades, a swath of land wedged between Canterbury Street and railroad tracks. The land was once home to metal and machine manufacturers, a foundry and an auto salvage business.

Today, the park is home to a pie maker and a manufacturing equipment seller. Soon, a modern manufacturing building for small businesses or startups will rise on another parcel. All of the parcels bought and cleared by the city have been sold or have deals in place.

Red Sox announce 2018 Fenway Park Improvements

Red Sox Chairman Tom Werner, President and CEO Sam Kennedy, and Executive Vice President and COO Jonathan Gilula today previewed this year’s improvements to Fenway Park in advance of the home opener on Thursday, April 5. The preview highlighted new protective netting, a new field-level group seating area for fans, seating additions in left field, refreshed and rebranded spaces and signage as part of partnerships with Sam Adams and Coca-Cola, new content for the virtual reality stations in the Kids Concourse, and a number of new concession offerings managed by Aramark, Fenway Park’s concessionaire.

The current record is 1,180, so we need 1,200 participants on City Hall Plaza to join in the fun and set a new world record!

Gov. Charlie Baker will seek a second four-year term in 2018, the moderate Republican announced yesterday without fanfare.

“We’ve accomplished a lot together, but there’s more work to do: That’s why I’m running for re-election as your Governor,” Baker wrote in a message posted to Twitter, along with a link to his official campaign website.
